Current teaching and research interests

Shih-Ning (“Suny”) Liaw, MD, FAAP, is a pediatrician who has dedicated his entire career to serving the needs of children with complex chronic conditions and their families. In 2014, Suny joined the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Boston Children's Hospital to serve as a full-time attending physician in pediatric palliative care. He serves in an educational leadership role as the Fellowship Director for PACT and as the Site Director for the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship. In addition, he continues to develop collaborative clinical partnerships with outside institutions, including Seven Hills Pediatric Center, Franciscan Children’s Hospital, and CareDimensions Hospice, to enhance the continuity of care and meet the palliative care needs of shared patients at these institutions.

Prior to moving to Boston, Suny served in clinical and educational leadership roles at the University of Texas Medical School-Houston, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, HealthBridge Children’s Hospital of Houston, Compassion Care Hospice-Houston, and the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. 

Suny is an instructor in pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. He is an instructor in the Division of Pediatric Palliative Care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Division of Hematology/Oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital.
