A hematologist and palliative care physician-investigator trained in psychedelic-assisted therapies, Dr. Yvan Beaussant’s research focuses on investigating the safety and efficacy of psychedelic-assisted therapy and defining standards of care across indications and populations of patients with serious illness. Dr. Beaussant led an international research seminar at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute and conducted qualitative studies of experts’ perspectives to define priorities and an agenda for psychedelic research in serious illness care. His team is now investigating psilocybin- and MDMA-assisted therapy to address depression, adjustment disorder, pain, and existential distress in this population.
