Course description

Palliative care is an essential element of nursing. This two-day course is designed to provide registered nurses and advanced practice registered nurses with essential principles and concepts to guide the nursing care of patients and families living with serious and/or life-threatening illness. Expert palliative nurses will teach, using didactic and interactive teaching strategies that foster a community of learning--a course for nurses, by nurses. 

Topics for ASPN 2020 included: 

  • Communication and Advanced Care Planning
  • Pain and Symptom Management 
  • Coordination of Care and Transitions Management
  • Cultivating Resiliency and Reflective Practice

The Art & Science of Palliative Nursing course focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to provide quality primary and specialty palliative care.

Nurses in all health settings who care for patients with serious and/or potentially life-threatening illness and practice at either the generalist or advanced practice level
